HERE is a topic

AUNG SAN SUU KYI - Who Is She?

Here is my impression about the history of ms Suu Kyi (aka Aung San Suu Kyi)

1. She was elected as President, about 20 years ago.
2. Celebrations throughout the Country rose up.
3. Within this celebration, I believe infiltrators (agent provacatuers) had started a small form of anarchy.
4. RIOTS were seen, while celebrations were ongoing.
5. When Ms Suu Kyi was demanded to quell the celebration, she used a NON draconian approach, and urged her supporters to go home, as much new work was for their new future
6. RIOTS remained (while being declared as celebrations in HER support).
7. The Ruling junta then arrested Ms Suu Kyi for NOT sending out the military to quash the demonstrations with military force, which I believe, may have led to a brutal amount of bloodshed.
8. The Country then went into Martial law, and a form of democracy was ended. The constitution was annulled.
9. Ms Suu Kyi spent about 20 years in confinement, until recently, and now she has waon a simple seat in the parliament.

Here's a different spin on this story

AUNG SAN SUU KYI - HERO with Duty
to her countrymen and women.

1. Aung San Suu Kyi father was the military leader of Burma, He negotiated the release from British rule for Burma..."[22] Her father, Aung San, founded the modern Burmese army and negotiated Burma's independence from the British Empire in 1947; he was assassinated by his rivals in the same year."

2. When Britain left the british rule to the hands of the people of Burma, and it beautiful VAST wealth of architechtural uniqueness..... Golden temples decorated with diamonds and rubies.

3. Sadly Aung San Suu Kyi father lost his life when Suu Kyi was only 2 years old.

4. Aung San Suu Kyi grew up, with a purpose for the people of Burma.

5. She was elected PRESIDENT by the people, but the Junta did NOT think she was capable, or maybe TOO CAPABLE of leading Burma, and so she was arrested, and confined for approx 20 years, while the people of Burma lived under a form of martial law.

6. Aung San Suu Kyi, never let her determination stop her, and after her release, she set out for a political life, once again, for the people of Burma.

7. From that last time I viewed Burma, it was in a transitional period, whereas the country, The GENERALS, the Government, were excepting a better future for themselves, along with their countrymen.....

I hope the generals along with Ms Suu Kyi succeed, in making Burma a better place for everyone, who live there, along with all who would want to travel there, just to see the BEAUTY of the Golden Temples and architectural display........... A truely amazing place, of beauty and fine craftsmanship.
